Saturnia e Vulcania, costruite per la Cosulich Line di Trieste a metà dei ruggenti anni Venti del secolo scorso nel celebre stabilimento di Monfalcone, una volta entrate in servizio furono le più grandi e potenti navi di linea mosse da motori diesel, rappresentando una efficace ed economica alternativa alla tradizionale propulsione a vapore.
Prime unità passeggeri provviste di cabine con balcone privato, un “must” di tutte le navi da crociera odierne, alternarono i viaggi di linea a prestigiose crociere.
Durante la loro lunghissima ed eccezionale carriera si resero protagoniste di una moltitudine di avvenimenti memorabili, trovandosi spesso al centro di cronache di richiamo mondiale.

First ocean liners ever to be equipped with cabins with private balconies (a"must" for all cruise ships of our days), they became the darlings of the international transatlantic passengers, alternating line crossings with exclusive cruises.
During their long and outstanding career they were protagonists of a multitude of memorable events, often finding themselves at the center of worldwide news.
